A series of CEOs of securities companies earned billions in income in the first half of the year

Many securities company CEOs receive bonuses of billions of dong in the first half of the year, the highest being up to 800 million dong a month.

As of August 19, many securities companies have announced their 6-month reviewed financial reports. Some units disclose the income of senior leaders, in which the chief executive officer (CEO) often has the highest salary.

Mr. Trinh Hoai Giang, General Director of HSC Securities, is the leader with the highest income among businesses that publish data. In the first half of the year, HSC paid the CEO 4.8 billion VND in salary and bonus, equivalent to last year. Mr. Giang’s average monthly income is about 800 million VND.

Born in 1969, Mr. Trinh Hoai Giang has assumed the position of CEO of HSC from 2020 to present. Previously, this businessman spent 13 years as Deputy General Director in charge of investment and operation of this securities company.

Before joining HSC, Mr. Giang worked at Dragon Capital and Vietcombank. According to the 2026 semi-annual management report, as of June 30, this CEO owns 6 million HCM shares, equivalent to 0.56% of HSC capital.

The CEO with the second largest income in the group of securities companies is Ms. Ton Minh Phuong, head of Vietcap’s Executive Board. According to the semi-annual financial report, Ms. Phuong’s total salary and other benefits are at 3.36 billion VND. This is equivalent to an average of 560 million VND per month, nearly 2.4 times higher than the same period last year.

Other members of Vietcap’s Board of Directors such as Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phuong or Mr. Dinh Quang Hoang and To Hai do not receive remuneration. In total, Vietcap spent 10.3 billion VND to pay salaries and bonuses for key officials, double last year’s.

General Director of Vietcap was born in 1983 and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Banking at the University of Technology, Sydney (Australia). Ms. Phuong has more than 18 years of experience in investment banking and joined Vietcap in 2011.

Behind Ms. Ton Minh Phuong in terms of income is Mr. Nham Ha Hai, CEO of VPBank Securities (VPBankS). In the first half of the year, this businessman had a total salary and bonus of 3.2 billion VND, equivalent to 533 million VND per month. However, this figure is lower than the VND 5.2 billion that former general director Vu Huu Dien received in the same period last year.

Born in 1977, Mr. Nham Ha Hai has a Master’s degree in Finance and has held the position of CEO of VPBankS from December 2025 to present. Mr. Hai has more than 20 years of experience in the finance and banking sector, having held senior positions at An Binh Securities (ABS), Techcombank, Techcom Securities (TCBS) and Techcom Capital.

VPS, the leading company in the stock brokerage market, pays General Director Le Minh Tai a salary and bonus of 1.44 billion VND after half a year, equivalent to 240 million VND per month. Along with VPS, Vietcap, HSC, VPBankS are also businesses in the top 10 brokerage market shares in the market.

However, billions of income do not only appear in companies with large brokerage market shares in the top 10. SHS Securities pays a bonus to General Director Nguyen Duy Linh, who has only held the position for more than 5 months, at 2.8 billion VND. With this level, each month Mr. Linh receives an average of about half a billion VND.

At OCB Securities (OCBS), General Director Nguyen Duc Quan Tung received 2.93 billion VND in the first half of the year, equivalent to nearly 490 million VND a month. In addition, Mr. Truong Ngoc Lan, General Director of VIX Securities, had an income of 1.16 billion VND, down 21% compared to the same period last year.

Many securities companies pay high salaries and bonuses to senior leaders in the context of continued growth in business results despite strong market fluctuations in the first half of the year. According to statistics, in the first half of the year, the total pre-tax profit of the entire industry reached about 24,800 billion VND, an improvement of 37% compared to the same period last year. The lending segment is the main driving force, bringing in 23,452 billion VND in revenue, 1.6 times higher than the same period last year.
