The government allocated 6.75 billion shekels to protect settlements on the border with Lebanon

The Israeli government has approved a NIS 6.75 billion Magen HaTzafon program to protect communities up to nine kilometers from the border with Lebanon, the Prime Minister’s Office said.

The program provides for the completion of work to protect settlements located within a radius of up to one kilometer from the border. For settlements located at a distance of one to nine kilometers, an updated scheme will be in force, allowing residents to independently build protected premises at the expense of government payments.

The maximum amount of such payment has been increased to 182 thousand shekels per family. Families who have already built protected premises at their own expense will also be able to receive compensation.
