Kika/Leiner bankruptcy: First gastro branches closed – 118 jobs affected

As of July 3, 2023, the seven restaurants in the Leiner branches in Linz, Steyr, Wels and Vienna-North and the restaurants in the Kika branches in Feldbach, Saalfelden and Sandleitengasse (Vienna-Ottakring) were closed, confirms the Kika/Leiner press spokesman Michael Slamanig the COURIER.

“The employment contracts of 118 employees were terminated or dissolved in the course of the closures of the restaurants in the branches, which can no longer be continued, in compliance with the relevant provisions,” says Slamanig. 16 other gastro locations will be closed in the course of July and 17 gastro locations with 146 employees will continue.

Kika/Leiner filed for bankruptcy in mid-June after the Signa Retail Group, headed by the Tyrolean investor René Benko, closed the operative business of the furniture store on May 31, 2023. Leiner & kika Möbelhandels GmbH, LeiKi Gastro Alpha GmbH and LeiKi Gastro Beta GmbHfor a total of three euros to the investor Hermann Wieser and the real estate to the Supernova Group of the German specialist retailer Frank Albert.
