The Finnish game is already being praised around the world in advance: “Frightening as hell” – Remedy’s stock is on the rise

A Finnish gaming company Remedy the new product Alan Wake 2 is praised in gaming magazines.

The game is an independent sequel to Alan Wake, released in 2010, which became a worldwide hit. The omens look good for the sequel as well.

For example, a reviewer from the US site Gamesradar played Alan Wake 2 for three hours, which was enough to leave the reviewer feeling scared in the “best possible way”.

“Make no mistake. Alan Wake 2 is scary as hell. Enemies are more dangerous, resources are less, and the atmosphere is more oppressive than in the first game,” Gamesradar’s reviewer writes.

The Cnet website, on the other hand, describes Alan Wake 2 as “fascinatingly strange”. Gamespot’s reviewer, on the other hand, says that he is impressed by the game.

The game is about the writer Alan Wake, who is stuck in some kind of nightmarish “dark place” between different worlds. In addition, in the action horror game you can play with an agent character named Saga Anderson.

Finnishness in the game is told, for example, by the Koskela brothers, played by the actor Peter Franzén. The game is directed by Remedy’s creative director Sami Järvi. Iltalehti reported in June that the game was “the greatest Finnish entertainment product of all time”.

Digital Trends compares Alan Wake 2 to a modern TV series classic.

“If the first game was like Twin Peaks, Alan Wake 2 is like Twin Peaks: The Return,” the website writes.

Twin Peaks: The Return is by David Lynch directed by the landmark work of the TV world from 2017.

Stock on the rise

On Thursday, Remedy’s price rose by around five percent on the Helsinki Stock Exchange. On Wednesday, after the stock market closed, Remedy’s share was valued at 20.40 euros. The share price has been at its highest this year at 25.37 euros in May.

In addition to Alan Wake, Remedy is known for e.g. the game Control, released in 2019, and its breakthrough game Max Payne, released in the early 2000s.

Remedy had a turnover of around 43.6 million euros last year. The net result was around EUR 1.7 million in loss.
