X appoints managers for safety: “Must create safer space for everyone”

Social networking site The former Twitter has lost many advertisers after the takeover by billionaire Elon Musk, who fired a large part of the staff. As a result, there were far fewer employees checking messages for hateful content.

Kylie McRoberts, who already worked at X, will become head of safety. She will now lead a team that develops new functions for enforcing the social media company’s house rules. X also announces that Yale Cohen, from advertising and communications agency Publicis, will be responsible for “brand safety” and advertising.

Recently, a number of major brands, including Apple, Disney and IBM, decided to pull away from X. They were concerned about messages glorifying Nazis that their ads appeared next to. Musk himself also made a controversial statement on X. He corrected a user who claimed that Jews stirred up hatred against white people. Musk later expressed regret for that statement.
