Argentina reduces its reference rate for the second time in a month

For the second time this month, Argentina’s central bank lowered its reference market rate from 70 to 60 percent, pointing to better conditions in the domestic economy due to a fiscal surplus and inflationary contraction. Two weeks ago (April 11) the monetary authority lowered the annual rate from 80 to 70 percent, given signs of less uncertainty along with the consolidation of the markets. Since December when Javier Milei assumed the presidency, the rate has dropped four times from 133 percent to 100 percent, then to 80, 70 and now to 60.
