Exhibition by comic artist Bernd Kissel: Saar legends and kangaroo strips in the newspaper museum

The show, which runs until January 3, 2027, is a collaboration with the municipality of Wadgassen in collaboration with Kissel itself.

Born in Saarbrücken in 1978, Kissel trained as an animator at the Lycée Technique des Arts et Métiers in Luxembourg from 1998 to 2000. Initially he designed for the Luxembourg Studio 352 backgrounds for animated series for almost eight years.

His career as a comic artist began in 2007, as the foundation explained. He designed over 100 episodes of the “Saar Legends” for the “Saarbrücker Zeitung” and later published the “Saarland Album” series there.

Carlsen then published the title “Münchausen – The Truth About Lying” in 2016 in collaboration with the comic author and illustrator Flix.

From Kangaroo to Elon and Jeff

Since 2020 he has been working with the author Marc-Uwe Kling, known for the “Kangaroo Chronicles”. The “Kangaroo Comics” appeared on “Zeit Online” from the end of 2020 to 2023. The two most recently published the comic “Elon & Jeff on Mars” in 2025. It was voted one of the best comics of the quarter by a jury of critics at the end of 2025. (epd)
