Jordan Bardella denies having proposed to Cyril Hanouna to lead Arcom in the event of victory in the legislative elections

Jordan Bardella was quick to react. The president of the National Rally (RN) denied this Monday having proposed to appoint Cyril Hanouna as head of the Audiovisual and Digital Communication Regulatory Authority (Arcom) after the dissolution of the National Assembly in June 2024.

According to Mediapart, the MEP was counting on a victory for the RN in the early legislative elections and on an accession to Matignon to propel the television host to the head of the audiovisual policeman, who has repeatedly sanctioned C8, the channel which broadcast “Touche pas mon poste”, for slip-ups.

If the appointment of the president of Arcom falls to the President of the Republic and must be validated by Parliament, it is done on the proposal of the Prime Minister, specifies the investigative media.

“Rule number 1 of journalistic ethics: always verify your information. Contrary to what Mediapart claims, I have never offered the head of Arcom to Cyril Hanouna…” proclaims on X the boss of the far-right party, who had previously refused to answer questions from the investigative media.

“Much respect and friendship”

Solicited by Mediapart, after having indicated that he no longer remembered the precise message, the host assured him that this proposal was not serious. “It’s a joke, that’s for sure! », assures this close friend of Vincent Bolloré, the owner of the Canal group. And added: “Do you see me at the head of Arcom? »

Cyril Hanouna has been working on the W 9 channel since the start of the school year, where he hosts the show “Tout beau, tout n9uf”. To date, he has never had a political purpose. Asked in April 2025 by Europe 1/CNews about a possible candidacy of the host for the next presidential election, Jordan Bardella declared having “a lot of respect and friendship for his work”. Sign of a certain closeness between the two men.

Mediapart recalls that they “celebrated together” in the host’s villa in Saint-Tropez (Var) in 2024, evoking “the ongoing debates around audiovisual and Arcom’s interventions against the channels of Vincent Bolloré’s group”.
