Blackmail attempt against Sébastien Cauet: the master blackmailer sentenced to 30 months in prison on appeal

Cauet’s blackmailer will remain in prison. This Tuesday afternoon, this 42-year-old woman who had tried to blackmail the host on the evening of his indictment for rape was sentenced by the Versailles Court of Appeal (Yvelines) to 30 months’ imprisonment, including 12 months suspended, Le Parisien learned. A severe sentence, very slightly lower than that handed down at the end of January in first instance by the Nanterre criminal court: three years in prison, including one and a half years suspended.

She was also sentenced to psychological treatment and to no longer have any contact with Cauet and his wife. She will therefore remain behind bars despite her spectacular change in defense strategy.

After denying the facts throughout her trial at first instance, she finally admitted on appeal to being the author of the numerous SMS sent to Sébastien Cauet in which she asked him for 30,000 euros in exchange for his silence, when the host had just been accused of sexual violence. “I hear that the past is catching up with you. What I want is peace for both of us,” she had first sent him before hundreds of messages.

The host indicted in May 2024 for rape

“We are obviously eminently relieved that Mr. Cauet’s blackmailer has abandoned the denials against my client and thereby recognized his status as a victim of his actions. This very heavy sanction in the Court of Appeal confirms the serious damage brought against him and Mrs. Nathalie Dartois (his wife). It also confirms that for those who would attempt to subvert #MeToo, justice remains and will remain intractable,” reacts Jade Dousselin, Sébastien Cauet’s lawyer.

The radio host, still on the air on Europe 2, was indicted in May 2024 for rape and sexual assault between 1997 and 2014 on four women, three of whom were teenagers at the time of the facts and another, an adult singer. The instruction continues in Paris.
