Media, Rotary meeting in Barletta: rigorous information challenge also on social media

In a society in which few newspapers are bought, “too many get their information only on social media where news that is often unverified or invented circulates, and very often invented to seem very true. This triggers dangerous mechanisms. It therefore becomes difficult for those who do our job to impose themselves and try to write something certified every day”. It is therefore necessary to verify the news “but at the same time we must also reach all the people who do not buy newspapers or read websites, do not listen to the radio or watch TV, but get information on social media: Instagram, Facebook, Tik tok. We are trying to do a difficult job to try to provide rigorous information on social media too”. Thus the director of Adnkronos Davide Desario, who spoke this morning in Barletta, at the public meeting on ‘Information in today’s Italy’, organized by the city Rotary Club in the room of the ‘Bernardini’ library of Palazzo San Domenico. Speakers included the mayor Cosimo Cannito, the bat commissioner Alfredo Fabbrocini, the councilor for culture Oronzo Cilli, the president and secretary of the Rotary, Vito Colucci and Alessandra Palmiotti, the journalist Nino Vinella.
