Film company A24 begins cooperation with Google’s artificial intelligence

Google and the production company A24 have agreed on artificial intelligence cooperation in filmmaking. The aim of the agreement is to develop new ways of using artificial intelligence in films with the help of Google’s Deepmind artificial intelligence.

The production company founded in 2012 is known for its distinctive style. For example Barbie-supervisor Greta Gerwigin the first full-length studio film Lady Bird (2017) is produced by A24.

Other praised films of the production company include, for example, the Oscar winners for the best film Moonlight (2016), Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022) as well as Timothée Chalamet’n starred Marty Supreme (2025).

The production company director of technology division A24 Labs Scott Belsky convince The Wall Street Journalillethat the goal is to preserve creative control in humans. At best, according to him, artificial intelligence can support artistic risk-taking.

A24 also specifies that the agreement does not concern intellectual property rights or training artificial intelligence.

One A24’s newest films are Kane Parsonsin directed blockbuster Backrooms (2026). The young director has previously spoken publicly against artificial intelligence.

AI divides opinion among filmmakers. Others take a more positive view of the phenomenon than Parsons.

For example, a well-known director Martin Scorsese has spoken about the possibilities of using artificial intelligence.

“We have to remember that film is a young art form, only about 125 years old. We have to be open to how it can evolve,” he says on the website of artificial intelligence company Black Forest Labs.

It remains to be seen how many of the directors who worked with A24 want to continue working with the production company in the future.
