Part of the proceeds will be donated to the foundation created by the former Italian cinema star, who died in September, in order to support young audiovisual artists, particularly women.
An auction in Paris of jewelry that belonged to actress Claudia Cardinale, who died in September, brought in 826,262 euros on Friday, Christie’s told AFP. The sale concerned “twenty jewels chosen, loved and worn by Claudia Cardinale”according to a press release.
Part of this sum will be donated to Fondazione Claudia Cardinale, the foundation that she created with her daughter to help young contemporary audiovisual artists, particularly women. The result exceeded the high estimate made by Christie’s, the auction house said, and all of the pieces were sold.

Legend of Italian cinema, Claudia Cardinale was the muse of the greatest directors, from Luchino Visconti to Federico Fellini, including Henri Verneuil and Sergio Leone. She appeared in more than 150 films in Italy, France and Hollywood, and was one of the most iconic actresses of Italian cinema along with Gina Lollobrigida and Sophia Loren. She died on September 23 in Nemours, near Paris, where she had lived for many years.
