Biennale Arte Venezia: the EU revokes 2 million euros in funding

After the evaluation and legal recommendation of the European Commission, the Eacea (European Education and Culture Executive Agency) “has decided to interrupt the 2 million euro loan granted to the La Biennale di Venezia Foundation”. This was communicated by the spokesperson of the EU executive Thomas Regnier.

For the Commission, “cultural events, financed with European taxpayers’ money, should safeguard democratic values, promote open dialogue, diversity and freedom of expression, values ​​that they are not respected in today’s Russia“, conclude.
