Dieter Nuhr on “Inas Night”: No words about femicide, anywhere

The Austrian actor and current “Everyman” actor in Salzburg, Philipp Hochmair, the British music trio FLO and the cabaret artist Dieter Nuhr have been announced as guests for the July 23rd edition at 11:50 p.m. on Erste.

Dieter Nuhr is on everyone’s lips with “Nuhr im Erste”, especially since he monologued about femicide and structural violence against men in the show on June 18th. The sentence was uttered: “To be on the safe side, it wouldn’t be a bad idea if you just got to know your partner before sexual intercourse.”

The 65-year-old cabaret artist rejected the widespread criticism, with the responsible broadcaster Berlin-Brandenburg reporting a record number of 325 complaints. “No joke about femicide, anywhere. I’ve never done it. I won’t,” he wrote in a Facebook post.

Now as a viewer you would expect that Nuhr would be asked about this by Ina Müller on her show. Instead, according to NDR, the cabaret artist will talk about the advantages of a separate marital household and “how he clearly lost out to Beyoncé”. It will also be about his little-known work as a visual artist.

Not a word about femicide, anywhere.

As NDR reported in response to a query from Tagesspiegel, the episode of “Inas Night” for July 23rd was recorded on April 30th, and Nuhr’s failed femicide satire comes from his broadcast on June 18th. “The current discussion about Dieter Nuhr’s statements is therefore not mentioned.” Ina Müller would of course have asked Dieter Nuhr about it, but since the program had already been recorded, this was no longer possible. “The fact that the episode was recorded in April is indicated by two insertions during the broadcast,” NDR continued.

Obviously the broadcaster saw and sees no other way than to close his eyes and see through. The question arises as to who will be most embarrassed by this approach: the NDR, Ina Müller or Dieter Nuhr? In any case, the viewer will experience a product disappointment with “Ina’s Night” on Thursday.
