Christopher Nolan’s epic has won over the French public. Released in theaters on July 15, The Odyssey recorded the 3rd best weekend of the year at the North American box office. And now, with some 1.84 million spectators in France, the Homeric fresco has the best first week of 2026.
This is the 6e best start since 2021. The film is just behind Super Mario Bros (1.86 million entries) and ahead Super Mario Galaxy movies (1.8 million) for its first week. At the top of the ranking since covid and still untouchable rises Spider-Man : No Way Home (2.87 million), followed byAvatar: The Way of Water (2.74 million) andAvatar: Fire and Ash (2,54 millions).

The rest of the ranking is full of young spectators. Animated films Vaiana , Toy Story 5 et Minions and monsters each have between 450,000 and 310,000 entries, depending on the Box-Office Pro.
Among other animated productions, the comedy Jim Queen crosses 310,000 entries at the end of its 5e week, while In Waves fell by 34% and accumulated 117,000 entries. The biopic dedicated to the King of Pop, Michael, keeps himself in the top 20, after 13 weeks, confirming its role as the most lucrative biographical film in history.
