Cinema comedy returns: Til Schweiger stars in the sequel to “The Moving Man”

The sequel will be produced by the Cologne companies Peak Point Pictures and Gesellschaft für Feine Films. Vuelta Entertainment Germany is responsible for the distribution. The other cast includes Jan Josef Liefers, Marie Bäumer and Rufus Beck. According to information, the script comes from Judy Horney and Martin Gypkens and is based on comics by Ralf König.

In terms of content, the film picks up 30 years after the events of the original. In the message he is announced as follows: “The moving man, 30 years later. When Axel shows up unannounced at his gay son’s wedding after years of radio silence, the finely balanced patchwork life of ex Doro and surrogate father Norbert gets out of kilter – in the middle of mid-life crises, baby plans and the question: Who actually is family?”

Ralf König found the first film adaptation of his comic “The Moving Man” “not so successful,” as he once told the Tagesspiegel in an interview. In the film published in 1994, unlike the original comic, the gay protagonists in particular were portrayed in a very cliched manner and as exaggerated caricatures – in the comic this was also the case with the heterosexual characters.

The illustrator today also has a rather distant relationship with the comic “The Moving Man,” which gave Ralf König his breakthrough as a best-selling author in 1987. Last year, in his book “Plum Crash and Cream Cakes”, written together with journalist Alex Jakubowski, he explained that from today’s perspective the story was “a bit out of date: a good-looking straight man who ends up in the gay scene and who is lusted after by the fags… is no longer so exotic today.”

It was also “always somehow strange” for him to see what was made of his comic book, including a musical in Hamburg.
