The Civil Guard has terminated the special security device deployed on the occasion of the XXXII anniversary of the Monegros Desert Festivalcelebrated between the days July 25 and 26, with a balance of four people arrested, two investigated and a notable decrease in both positive for alcohol and drugs among drivers and complaints about theft of mobile phones.
The operation, carried out from the first hour of the 25th until 8:30 p.m. on the 26th, allowed the festival would go on “normally”“and without major incidents, as reported by the Armed Institute. The event brought together some 60,000 people, of which around 25,000 accessed the venue in 460 buses.
Agents from different specialties of the Huesca Command participated in the device, with the support of troops from the Aragon Zone, the USECIC of Huesca, Zaragoza and Navarra, the Rural Security Group (ARS) of Zaragoza, the Sector and several Traffic Subsectors, in addition to the PEGASO Team, the Central Cynological Service, the Telecommunications Service and the Cavalry Group.
During the festival, the agents carried out a total of 7,563 informative aids to attendeesin addition to developing citizen security actions, preventive controls and surveillance tasks both inside and around the premises.
TRAFFIC CONTROLS AND COMPLAINTS
In terms of road safety, Benemérita practiced 3,677 breathalyzer tests and 165 drug detection controls to drivers, with a result of 40 positive for alcohol consumption and 66 for the presence of narcotic substances.
Likewise, they were identified 5,550 people under the protection of the Citizen Security Protection Lawwhich gave rise to 610 administrative complaints. Of them, 582 corresponded to violations for possession or consumption of narcotic substances.
The balance is completed with 14 complaints for unauthorized street vending, 13 for sale of alcohol or food without complying with legal requirements and another five for carrying weapons.
In the criminal area, the Civil Guard arrested three people for crimes against public health related to drug trafficking and another for serious disobedience and a crime against road safety. In addition, he investigated a person for a crime against public health and another for a crime against road safety.
DECLINE IN MOBILE THEFT
One of the most notable aspects of the balance sheet has been the decrease in complaints of mobile phone theft during the festival. The agents managed to recover 89 terminals that had been robbed within the premises and made arrests related to these events.
The Civil Guard has also highlighted the increased awareness of attendees regarding driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, reflected in the reduction of positives detected during controls.
The device has been coordinated with the Local Police of Fraga, the Firefighters of the Provincial Council of Huesca, Civil Protection of Bajo Cinca and the organization’s security personnel. The proceedings carried out, the detainees, the narcotic substances and the rest of the seized effects will be placed at the disposal of the Fraga Guard Court and the Government Subdelegation in Huesca.
