Scorsese returns to Matera to shoot the third series of "The Saints"

Martin Scorsese turn again to Matera. Filming has begun in the city of Sassi for the third season of ‘The Saints‘, the docuseries created and presented by Oscar-winning director and produced by Lupine Film.

After the success of second seasonproduction returned to Basilicata to create three new episodes dedicated to Saint Nicholas, Saint Christopher and Saint Augustine.

Matera ‘capital’ of Hollywood cinema

Filming will continue until July 30th and will involve Sassi districts and the historic center, with sets set up in some of the city’s symbolic places, including Piazza Duomo, Via Fiorentini, Via Madonna delle Virtù and the Malve district. For Matera this is a new return of a leading international production, confirming the city’s attractiveness for world cinema.

Italian and foreign productions in Matera

In recent years the Sassi have hosted numerous Italian and foreign productionsconsolidating Matera’s role among the most requested locations for films and television series thanks to the historical and landscape value of its heritage. The second season of “The Saints” was the most watched series in the history of the US platform Fox Nation.

Also in Matera was Francis Ford Coppola

The Lucanian cinema calendar will continue in the coming weeks. In fact, Francis Ford Coppola will arrive in Matera at the end of August. The city of the Sassi will also be one of the sets of the new film by the six-time Oscar-winning Italian-American director.
