BBC included Alla Pugacheva in the list of 100 most influential women in the world

The British Broadcasting Corporation BBC has published a list of the 100 most influential and inspiring women in the world in 2022. The legendary singer Alla Pugacheva, who has both Russian and Israeli citizenship, also got into it. The BBC calls her Russian.

“Singer and composer Alla Pugacheva has sold more than 250 million discs. Her repertoire includes more than 500 songs released on 100 albums. “The Queen of Russian Variety” is a real legend, she has a wonderful mezzo-soprano,” the corporation’s website reports, noting that Pugacheva stopped active concert activity.

The BBC also emphasizes her civic position, recalling that the singer has repeatedly opposed the current Russian authorities. In particular, she published on the social network Instagram, where she has 3.6 million subscribers, a post against the war in Ukraine. Supporters of the Russian authorities accused Pugacheva of high treason.

The message ends with a quote from the singer: “The world has witnessed significant progress in the struggle for women’s access to education and financial independence. However, domestic violence is still a big problem in many countries.”
