Glad to have avoided the infection – Ekstra Bladet
Kirsten Olesen is grateful to have had a permanent job and salary during the corona pandemic, unlike many financially needy colleagues, and then she says that she has not had corona so far. See video interview in the article

Most people remember her from ‘Matador’, where she was a consistent – and extremely popular – character.

But Kirsten Olesen, who has gradually turned 72, is much different than the character Agnes Jensen, who in the series goes from poor waitress to team businesswoman.

She has thus been an active actress over the years, and right now she is currently in a film role in the highly acclaimed ‘You who are in heaven’, which has its cinema premiere this week.

But in fact it is on the slanted boards that Kirsten Olesen is most active, where she is permanently associated with the Royal Theater.

Hugely privileged
Precisely that fact has been a good financial lifeline under the actor, who like so many others has been hit on the job front due to the now over two year old pandemic.

– We have all had to stop in rehearsals and then resume them – it has been a common condition for all of us, but inside the Royal Theater we have had a good time, because we have not been without pay in that way, as many of my peers who are freelancers have been. In that way, I have been enormously privileged, Kirsten Olesen tells Ekstra Bladet on the red carpet.

The buttocks inside
She has not yet been affected by corona herself, and this is how she hopes it will remain, now that she is once again venturing out among many people for, for example, cinema premieres:

– I have not had it yet, no – and I hope not to get it. But now this variant should not be so serious. Now we are a lot of people tonight, but never mind. We hope that everyone keeps their ‘baktusser’ inside, illustrates Kirsten Olesen with an expression that would have been worthy of ‘Matador’.

She is happy to be in ‘You who are in heaven’, but would actually rather talk about her teammate, the 16-year-old shooting star Flora Ofelia, who plays the overriding main role:

– My role is not very big. I’m on the poster, but it’s Flora who has the big, lovely role. She is an amazing talent and I have been happy to meet her. She is quite wonderful in ‘You Who Are in Heaven’. She has intensity in her play, a presence, and her charisma is wonderful.

– Have you given her any good advice – you have been involved for many years?

– No I have not. Everyone has to make their own experiences. If I have to give her advice, it has to be, ‘Finish your school, because you’ll probably get it.’
