Ministry of Economy warns: Chinese clog clearer can be dangerous

The Office of Standardization under the Ministry of Economy warns the population about the dangers of a Chinese-made sewer pipe cleaner – the product is sold in a 500-gram package, barcode 6976298410118. The product was sold in Israel in 2025.

An inspection carried out by the Israel Standards Institute on behalf of the standardization authority found that the product did not meet the requirements of a mandatory Israeli standard regarding the safety, packaging and labeling of drain cleaners.

In particular, the packaging lacks Hebrew labeling, including risk warnings and precautions, which could pose a danger to consumers if they come into contact with the chemical.

Owners of the drain cleaner shown in the published photographs are asked to immediately stop using it. The sale of this product in stores is strictly prohibited.

The Ministry of Economy noted that the standardization department regularly conducts inspections of products that are subject to mandatory standards. Violators of the requirements face both administrative and criminal sanctions.
