Israel | Six representatives of the Ethiopian community completed the process of conversion by performing circumcision

Six Israelis from the Ethiopian community were circumcised (Brit Mila) at Haifa’s Rambam Hospital, completing their conversion to Judaism after months of waiting. The ceremony was held with the cooperation of the state conversion system under the Ministry of the Head of Government, the Ministry of Health and the Budget Allocation Department under the Ministry of Finance.

As Srugim reported on Wednesday, March 27, six converts to Judaism arrived in Israel several years ago and decided to officially convert. The ceremony participants range in age from 14 to 54 years old, and dozens more such operations are expected to take place in the coming weeks for other graduates of the conversion system.

On Tuesday, six members of the Ethiopian community entered the operating room one after another, accompanied by Professor Aaron Hofman from the Department of Circulatory and Transplant Surgery. Professor Hoffman is also a licensed mohel, a circumcision specialist whose services are recognized by official organizations in Israel.

The resumption of circumcision operations after a long period associated, among other things, with the War of the Iron Swords, will allow dozens of men who have undergone conversion to officially complete the procedure and receive the relevant documents.
