Hundreds of doctors from Europe are on their way to immigrate to Israel
Against the background of the acute shortage of doctors in Israel, a recruitment event was held yesterday for the first time in France. The event was held in Paris as part of a broad national program initiated by the Ministry of Immigration and Absorption, the Ministry of Health and the Nefesh Benefesh organization and with the assistance of the Jewish Agency, which was designed to accelerate the immigration to Israel of 2,000 Jewish doctors from around the world over the next five years. More than 450 Jewish doctors and dentists from all over France and Belgium participated in the event.The future immigrants met with the staff of the Directorate for Immigrant Doctors of the Ministry of Immigration and Absorption, held rounds of interviews with representatives of hospitals and health insurance funds to examine employment opportunities, received information about the official procedures and the various grants, and converted their medical licenses so that their areas of expertise would be recognized in Israel.

The Minister of Immigration and Absorption MK Ofir Sofer, the founders of Nefesh Be Nefesh, the philanthropist Tony Galbert and Rabbi Yehoshua Pess, the Director General of the Ministry of Immigration and Absorption, and more were present at the event. In addition, representatives of the Medical Association, all four health funds and leading hospitals from around the country participated in the conference.

Health Minister Uriel Bosso said: “These days the Ministry of Health is leading steps and programs to increase the professional manpower in the health system, and I welcome any cooperation that helps us meet the national mission for the welfare of the citizens.” Co-founder and CEO of Nefesh in Nefesh Rabbi Yehoshua Pess said at the event: “This is a historic moment to be here on European soil. Not only for us as an organization, but also for the State of Israel and Diaspora Jewry.”

The chairman of the Jewish Agency Major General (ret.) Doron Almog added: “The love for Israel is the main drive for the immigration of Jews from all over the world, as well as from France. They continue to express their support and pride in the State of Israel in these difficult days.”
