The RFEF delays the 2023 Copa del Rey final to May 6

Following appeals from the Sevillian authorities, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has changed the date of the Copa del Rey 2023 final, moving it from April 29 to May 6 to avoid clashing with Easter and being too near to the Fair.

“The Royal Spanish Football Federation’s (RFEF) Delegated Commission will examine a modification in the date of the King’s Cup – Spanish Championship 2022-2023 final today. On May 6, 2023, the match will be held in Seville “In a statement, the agency announced.

“This recommendation to adjust the calendar is due to security and public order difficulties related to Seville’s high occupancy on the date originally intended for the celebration of the final,” the RFEF continues, mindful of the difficulty in staying in the Andalusian capital on those days.

According to the RFEF, “the new date that would be determined for the final would then necessitate the subsequent modifications in the calendar on days 32 and 33 of the First Division; alterations that have already been acknowledged by LaLiga.”
