Insulted Nadia Nadim selected for the European Championships
The reviled striker Nadia Nadim is among national coach Lars Søndergaard’s selected for the European Championships in July. The coaching staff has never been in doubt, he says

In recent months, 34-year-old Nadia Nadim has been subjected to a shitstorm due to her choice to be the official ambassador for the scandal-ridden World Cup in Qatar.

Despite the criticism, she has been selected for the squad that will represent Denmark at the European Championships in England in July.

This is confirmed by national coach Lars Søndergaard at a press conference on Wednesday in Ballerup, where he has just selected his European Championship squad of 23 players.

– Nadia we have assessed to be so far now that she can help us. Probably not as a starter, but more as a joker.

– She’s a guy who does not think so much, other than to score goals. We were not really in doubt that she should join, says the national coach and assures that he does not expect any trouble.

– It will not cause unrest with us. I’m sure of that. It may well be that a little comes around, but we will line up with the best squad and the best team.

Nadia Nadim announced her role as ambassador on April 1, but has since refused to appear for interviews despite countless inquiries.

The national coach made it clear in an interview with DR the other day that Nadim had to comment on Qatar if she was to be selected for the European Championships.

Something she has not yet complied with.

An ugly knee injury has kept her out for most of the season, but after 8 months on the sidelines, she made a comeback for her club Racing Louisville earlier this month, and now she is also ready for the European Championships.
