After more than six years, coach Christian Eichner and Karlsruher SC are parting ways after this season – despite the 43-year-old’s contract running until 2027. This was the result of several conversations between sports director Mario Eggimann and Eichner, the Baden second division football team said.
The club’s powerful advisory board had already approved the decision on Tuesday evening. “Over the years, Christian has developed into a figurehead for our club through good work and dedication,” explained Eggimann in a club statement. Over time, however, “the impression has matured and become more and more solidified that, after six and a half years of working together, we have reached a point in our development where we want to provide new impetus for the future.”
The KSC did not comment on a possible successor for the coming season. According to media reports, there is already a successor candidate. The Badische Neuesten Nachrichten reported that Tobias Strobl could come from third division club SC Verl.
