FC Bayern – Kompany suggests B-Elf in Mainz

According to coach Vincent Kompany, FC Bayern will probably rest many of their regular players in the sportingly insignificant away game in Mainz. The Munich team, who have already become champions, do not want to take the risk of injuries, which will be required in the semi-final first leg of the Champions League at Paris Saint-Germain next week. “It may be that we make decisions that are a little bit logical in terms of maybe load management or just maybe some guys are struggling,” Kompany said.

Bayern had already rested some top performers against Stuttgart (4:2) and still won the championship title early. Now at FSV Mainz 05 on Saturday (3:30 p.m./Sky), Kompany wants to field those players “who don’t have to worry because they are simply fit and fresh.” The Belgian didn’t name any names, but emphasized that it was about making “sensible decisions”.

The coach didn’t want to go into the premier class clash against defending champions PSG yet. He can understand that the highlight match next Tuesday in Paris’s Prinzenpark is already in the back of his players’ minds: “They are all people and that is normal.”
