He won’t be able to defend his crown. Double defending champion of Roland-Garros, Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, announced this Friday in a message posted on X that he will not be able to participate in the French internationals this year, due to a wrist injury.
“In view of the results of the tests carried out today, we have decided that it is more prudent to exercise caution and not participate in the tournaments in Rome and Roland-Garros,” Alcaraz wrote. While waiting to assess the evolution of the situation to decide when we will return to the court. »

“It’s a difficult moment for me, but I’m sure we will come out of it stronger,” added the Spaniard. The 2026 edition of the tournament, which will open in exactly one month (May 24-June 7), will therefore take place without him.
Injured in the right wrist and forced to forfeit the Masters 1000 in Madrid, the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, world No. 2, remained unclear about his presence for Roland-Garros on Monday, ensuring that he did not want to “force” and “take the risk” of aggravating his injury.
The Spaniard has played in the Porte d’Auteuil tournament five times, winning his first edition in 2024 and achieving the back-to-back in 2025, notably at the end of an anthology final against his great rival Jannik Sinner.
