Pablo Llamas, Kaitlin Quevedo and Marina Bassols enter the final draw of Roland Garros

The Spanish tennis player Pablo Llamas has entered the final draw of Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam of the season, after winning in the last round prior to the Lithuanian Vilius Gaubas (6-3, 6-1), the same success as that achieved by Marina Bassols and Kaitlin Quevedo, who beat the Russian Aliaksandra Sasnovich and the Spanish Guiomar Maristany, respectively, to access the women’s draw.

Pablo Llamas will participate for the second consecutive year in the final draw of Roland Garros after passing the last qualifying round. The Andalusian won convincingly against Gaubas, in a match that only allowed him to add four games. The Jerez native was solid with his serve, which he maintained throughout the match, and sharp with the rest, with which he would achieve up to four breaks, two in each set.

The other two Spaniards who were in the running for access to the final draw of the Parisian tournament did not suffer the same fate: Roberto Carballés and Pedro Martínez. The Tenerife native fell in three sets in a disputed match against the Bolivian Hugo Dellien (6-3, 3-6, 6-1), while the Valencian lost more clearly against the American Emilio Nava by a double 6-3.

On the women’s side, the positive notes of the day for the Spanish fleet were those of Kaitlin Quevedo and Marina Bassols. The Canarian defeated the Catalan Guiomar Maristany in a duel between compatriots, whom she had to overcome from a set down. After losing the first set (3-6) he knew how to react, first, with a second set marked by unreliability with serves (6-4) and, later, with a serious third set (6-3) to win the match.

For her part, Marina Bassols obtained a very worthwhile victory against Sasnovich (7-6(4), 7-5). The one from Blanes knew how to turn around a first set that was very much against her (4-1) with four consecutive games, and ended up confirming her reaction in the tie break (7-4). And in the second set, a 4-1 start in their favor would be good to end up closing the game 7-5 after three consecutive games – two in the rest -.
