Freelancer Ville Mankinen has had a cerebral infarction in May. The Finnish Freestyle Association and the 03 Fight Team represented by Mankinen will tell you about it on Instagram.
On May 23, Mankinen fought in Pori at the Rähin MMA Vol. 1 event and defeated the Brazilian Wellyton Junior da Silvan judge’s vote.
Mankinen had a cerebral infarction the day after the match.
“The background is vertebral dissection, i.e. damage to the vertebral artery in the neck area, which has caused a cerebral infarction,” the release states.
“Like all full-contact sports, there is also a risk of injury in freestyle. However, serious and sad situations like this are extremely rare.”
A native of Laitila Mankinen, 31, has played 17 matches as a professional. He has won ten of them and lost six, one has ended in a draw.
Pori’s May event was the first match night of the Rähinä MMA promotion.
