Rattlesnake, Cianorte e San Joseense are the representatives of football from Paraná in the second phase of the Series D of the Brazilian Championship. The three teams confirmed their classification last Sunday (7), with the end of the group stage.
The best performance was that of Cianorte, who finished second in Group A15, with 16 points. In the last round, Leão do Vale beat eliminated Guarany de Bagé 1-0 away from home. Midfielder Luciano Santos scored the winning goal with a beautiful shot from inside the area.
“A game with a lot of resilience, Serie D is that. We did what we had to do, we stayed connected the whole time and with defensive consistency. If we didn’t concede a goal, I said things would happen. Congratulations to the group of athletes who are being resilient. We all deserve this classification”said coach Rafael Ferro.
In the same bracket, Cascavel lost to leader Santa Catarina 1-0, but ended up in third place, with 15 points, and qualified based on goal difference. The defense, which only conceded four goals and is one of the best in the entire Series D, was the campaign’s biggest difference.
São Joseense advanced with a 0-0 draw against Marcílio Dias. In ten games, the São José dos Pinhais team scored 13 points and came in third place in Group A16. The last match of the group stage was marked by the club’s debut at Vila Olímpica, which was renovated in a partnership with Paraná Clube.
On the other hand, Azuriz said goodbye to Série D after drawing 1-1 at home with Brasil de Pelotas. Pato Branco’s team needed the victory, in addition to a combination of results to continue in the competition.
Paraná duel in the second phase of Series D
The second phase of Series D will feature a clash from Paraná between Cianorte and São Joseense, with the second match taking place in the interior of Paraná. Cascavel faces Marcílio Dias and decides the match at home.
The dates and times of the games will be announced in the next few hours by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).
Teams that advance to the round of 16 guarantee, at the very least, participation in next year’s Series D. Through the Paranaense Championship, São Joseense, Foz do Iguaçu and Azuriz qualified.
