The Court sentences footballer Rafa Mir to eight and a half years in prison for sexual assault on a young woman

The Fourth Section of the Valencia Court has sentenced footballer Rafa Mir, currently at Elche CF and former Valencia CF player, to eight and a half years in prison, who was tried on May 28 for a crime of sexual assault and a crime of injuries to a young girl, committed on the night of August 31, 2024 at his home in Bétera, as reported by the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV) in its account. x.

The court imposed on the second defendant, also a soccer player Pablo Jara, two and a half years in prison and the payment of a fine for a crime of sexual assault, another against moral integrity and a minor crime of injuries to a second young woman.

The sentence, which was notified this Monday to the parties and which is not final, establishes compensation of 64,000 euros in favor of the victim of the first convicted person and 6,280 euros for the complainant of the second.

At the hearing, Rafa Mir denied having sexually assaulted the young woman and stated, in a statement in which he answered only questions from his lawyer, that “everything was consensual” and that the night “flowed like this.”

On the other hand, the victim narrated a double sexual assault with penetration by the player, who at that moment began “to cry”; that it was difficult for him to “breathe”, he was “scared” and he asked him to stop but he didn’t.

The Prosecutor’s Office requested a sentence of 10 and a half years in prison for the footballer, which the Court in its sentencing left at eight and a half years.
