Soccer World Cup: US Embassy warns citizens about World Cup round of 16

The US Embassy in Mexico City has urged its citizens to be particularly careful ahead of the World Cup round of 16 between Mexico and England. The game will kick off on Monday night at 2 a.m. (MagentaTV).

According to information, large crowds are expected in the capital and across the country at fan festivals, in stadiums and at public broadcast locations. The US Embassy warned that there had been injuries and deaths at recent public viewing events due to overcrowding.

The embassy also warned of possible demonstrations. The notice urged US citizens to avoid them. Under Mexican law, foreign citizens are not allowed to take part in political demonstrations. Violations could lead to arrest or deportation.
