Helsinki A defender who represented the football club for two and a half seasons Brooklyn Lyons-Foster25, moves to Ireland.
HJK announced of the transfer on Wednesday.
Lyons-Foster will move to the Irish Premier League with Derry City. Derry pays HJK a transfer fee.
The defender arrived in Helsinki from the Premier League club Tottenham in the winter of 2024. He was born in London and was raised by Tottenham. Before arriving in Finland, he had time to celebrate the Premier League U21 championship in England.
at HJK Lyons-Foster won the Finnish Cup championship in 2025. He played a total of 49 matches in the Veikkausliiga.
“Thanks especially to everyone in the club and to the supporters for the warm welcome and all the support throughout the time I spent at the club. I am really grateful that I got the opportunity to represent HJK,” he said in the press release.
“During our discussions with Brooklyn, it became clear that he would like to return to his home islands. We received an offer that satisfied all parties, and for everyone, a transfer in this window was the best solution,” commented HJK’s sports director Petri Vuorinen.
Vuorinen says in the press release that the replacement player is already known and news will be forthcoming soon.
HJK is currently fifth in the Veikkausliiga. It is also involved in the Conference League qualifiers, where it faces Coleraine on Thursday.
