HJK, shuffling its players, took a crushing victory in its Eurocup opener

HJK styled a crushing victory in their Eurocup home opener on Thursday. First the young people wreaked havoc and at the end of the second period Teemu Pukki did double tricks.

That’s how it had to go, when the Club’s team and organization have a lot of experience in these games. In the past ten years, HJK has never lost its first Eurocup game of the summer in Töölö. Twice of them have been left with a draw that stinks of disappointment.

The win was the only acceptable result, when in the second qualifying round of the Conference League, the opponent was the Northern Irish team Coleraine FC, operating with much smaller resources. An equally bad Euro opponent was last seen in Töölö in the first half of the last decade.

The club and the skill difference of the Northern Irish was visible to everyone already in the opening period, when the home team progressed easily to threaten the goal.
