Croatian football star Luka Modric has postponed the end of his career again and extended his contract with the top Italian club AC Milan at the age of 40. The 2018 World Player of the Year signed a new contract that is valid until mid-2027.
“After a season below our expectations, the desire to bounce back is immense,” said Modric after signing the contract. The new season is a project that he believes in “and that motivates me.”

After 13 years and six Champions League titles, Modric left Real Madrid a year ago. The Milanese are a childhood love of the 202-time Croatia international.
Last season, Milan gambled away their Champions League qualification, which they had already believed to be certain, on the last matchday. The club then fired its coach, sports director, CEO and chief scout. There were many signs that Modric would end his career after the World Cup. But the new Milan coach Ruben Amorim from Portugal also convinced him to continue.
