Norris: “I’m very happy to be back at the top, it was a very difficult qualifying. We were fast from the first laps, the updates we brought helped. Being on pole on this track is very important. I had confidence throughout the day, even if the lap in Q3 wasn’t the best. I’m also a little surprised to be in front, but what matters is the final result. I thank the team for the great work.”

Hamilton: “We did an excellent job all weekend, I felt solid. I don’t think the choice to go out first in Q3 was the right one. On the last lap I had little grip. This is a track that I love, I want to do well tomorrow too. We’ll see what happens.”

Leclerc: “Today there were some changes in the wind and I struggled to find my balance. I was unlucky in the last sector, but I tried to make the most of what I had. I think I succeeded.”

Antonelli: “I was doing a lap in third place, but the yellow flag distracted me a bit. I did badly in the last corner, where I could have gained something. It’s a shame, it was a difficult session especially in Q2. We were behind and we had to take a giant step forward for Q3. The race pace is strong, we can get a good result tomorrow.” The Mercedes driver is under investigation for a yellow flag infringement.

Russell:“The problem is that the engine was leaking water. I stopped because I had water in the cockpit. Apparently there was no damage to the car, but we need to evaluate better. We expected a very strong Ferrari. Yesterday we were fast on the race pace, less so on the qualifying lap. Starting from seventh place isn’t great.”
