Napoli's chances of competing for a Champions League qualification spot are diminishing

The hopes of Napoli, the defending champion, to compete for a ticket to qualify for the Champions League, suffered a major blow, after its painful loss at home to Atalanta 0-3, on Saturday in the 30th stage of the Italian Football Championship. After three matches in which they failed to achieve any victory, Napoli’s seventh place is threatened by Fiorentina, and is 9 points away from fourth-placed Bologna, which has played one match less. For its part, Atalanta strengthened its sixth position, five points away from Napoli with one game less. Russian Alexei Miranchuk (26), Gianluca Skamaca (45) and Dutchman Ton Koopmeiners (88) deservedly scored for him. Italy appears to be in a good position to win a fifth qualifying spot for the Champions League with its new system next season
