Munich avoids third defeat against Bremerhaven – Sport

The Fischtown Pinguins from Bremerhaven lost for the first time in the playoff semi-finals of the German Ice Hockey League. The main round winner lost to EHC Red Bull Munich 0:4 (0:1, 0:1, 0:2) on Friday, but still leads the best-of-seven series 2:1. Game four takes place on Sunday (5 p.m.) in Munich. “It shouldn’t be today. We made too many mistakes in the first 30 minutes,” said coach Thomas Popiesch at Magentasport. After the two defeats at the start of the series, the defending champions from Munich got off to a better start in Bremerhaven. Konrad Abeltshauser gave the guests the lead after seven minutes. Trevor Parkes was able to increase the score for the Söderholm team in the second half (25th). The hosts from Seestadt were unable to take advantage of good opportunities and repeatedly failed because of the strong national goalkeeper Mathias Niederberger. “We have to work harder to have a chance against Munich today,” said Pinguins goal scorer Jan Urbas after the second period. Bremerhaven’s Christian Wejse missed the best chance to connect when he only hit the post (52′). National players Maxi Kastner (53rd) and Chris DeSousa (58th) made the well-deserved away win perfect.
