The CSD decides this Thursday whether to suspend Pedro Rocha and prevent him from being president of the Federation

At 11:00 a.m. this Thursday, the Board of Directors of the Higher Sports Council (CSD) is summoned to study whether to provisionally suspend Pedro Rocha and thus prevents him from being the next president of the Spanish Football Federation. Taking into account the latest statements of the minister, Pilar Alegraand the president of the CSD, Jose Manuel Rodrguez Uribesthere is little doubt about what will be decided (which is to suspend him), but the forms are important and everything must be in accordance with the law.

The meeting has been convened in a hybrid format, that is, some members will do so in person and others will do so ‘online’. In the Board of Directors, made up of the president (Rodríguez Uribes), the general director of Sports (Fernando Molinero), as well as representatives of the General Administration of the State, Autonomous Communities, federations and highly prestigious figures in the world of sports, will analyze and deliberate on the actions to be adopted after the Administrative Court of Sports (TAD) initiated the 15 a disciplinary file against Rocha and the Management Commission for “very serious” infractions

When the TAD opens a file and qualifies the facts as such, the Steering Committee has the power to provisionally suspend the accused until the merits of the matter are substantiated by the TAD itself, which could take months. CSD sources have confirmed that this Thursday’s meeting is expected to be long., since first the TAD file will be studied, then the measures to be adopted will be debated and, finally, a vote will be taken. According to the CSD statutes, the Steering Committee is “a collegiate body and its decisions are adopted by majority, after analysis, deliberation and reasoned justification.”

Pedro Rocha, for his part, awaits the decision supported by his trusted people, the same ones that have led him to this situation, and has put himself in the hands of a prestigious law firm to expedite all the options of being president, something that , if he is provisionally suspended today, it will be almost impossible. The other obstacle that he has, his status as an investigator in ‘Operation Brody’, does not prevent him from being president, nor does the fact of having been one of the most faithful followers of the former president, Luis Rubiales.
