Newey from farewell to Red Bull to the future at Ferrari: the scenario

Adrian Newey at Ferrari? The genius who designed Red Bull cars for the last 20 years is about to bid farewell to the team with wings, as anticipated by the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport. Newey, who renewed his contract only a year ago, seems destined to leave the team at the end of the 2024 season, dealing with friction between the British wing led by team principal Chris Horner and the one led by consultant Helmut Marko, linked to the Austrian soul of the team. Newey, obviously, would end up at the center of the market, with a series of teams ready to court him to entrust him with the design of the car of the future.

It is inevitable to compare the designer to Ferrari, as the specialized and non-specialist media do. According to Autosport, Aston Martin is certainly on Newey’s trail, having already made an offer in the past. In any case, the magazine highlights, anyone wanting to hire the designer risks having to wait until 2027. The contract with Red Bull expires at the end of 2025 but it cannot be ruled out that some clauses could keep Newey on hold for a further 12 months.

Non-negligible detail: what does Newey want to do in the future? The move to Maranello would be a ‘revolution’. Aston Martin, which has its headquarters in Silverstone, would be a less traumatic choice in this sense, with a less radical change in the event of farewell to Milton Keynes, the heart of Red Bull.
