However, Rockstar Games functions as a global network of studios with important offices in San Diego, India, Toronto and elsewhere, and their contribution also accounts for a significant portion of the costs. When you add to that other inevitable expenses such as software development, servers for the new generation of GTA Online, music licensing, voice acting and, finally, a huge marketing campaign, the total amount easily exceeds three billion dollars.

To put this figure in perspective, it is enough to compare it with its predecessors. The development and marketing of the game Grand Theft Auto V from 2013 cost a then record 265 million dollars, while Red Dead Redemption 2 had an estimated budget of up to 540 million dollars. This means that GTA 6 could be up to ten times more expensive than its already successful predecessor. The comparison with the film industry is striking: the budget of GTA 6 surpasses even the most expensive films like Avatar: The Path of Water (about 460 million dollars).
