ChatGPT may have advised a murderer in Florida

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced a criminal investigation against the company OpenAI and its AI tool, ChatGPT, for allegedly “advising” Phoenix Ikner, a 21-year-old student who in 2025 murdered two people and left seven injured during a shooting at Florida State University (FSU).

The investigation follows an initial review of Ikner and ChatGPT’s conversation history, which reflects the state’s legal fight against AI companies. In March it also emerged that a Florida family sued the Gemini chatbot for inducing a man to commit suicide by making him believe that they were in a romantic relationship and that his death was necessary for them to be together.

Amazon announced that it will invest at least $5 billion more in Anthropic through an AI deal in which the technology company commits to spending $100 billion on Amazon Web Services over the next decade.

Anthropic indicated in a note that the new agreement deepens its alliance and ensures “up to 5 gigawatts (gw) of capacity to train and deploy Claude,” using AI chips developed by Amazon, called Trainium, and Graviton processors. The e-commerce giant foresees AI-related capital expenditures similar to the historic injection of 50 billion for OpenAI, developer of ChatGPT, amid a growing trend towards circular agreements in the sector.

Google helps not only to fly

Google launched a new feature that allows users to track rates for specific hotels, similar to the already existing Google Flights, to notify by email if rates drop during chosen dates. Until now, the search engine allowed you to monitor price fluctuations at a general level in a city, but the update allows you to focus on specific establishments.

As detailed by the company, users who log in will be able to activate a “price tracking” switch after searching for a specific hotel by name and, once the function is activated, the system will automatically send if the rates of the selected establishment suffer a significant variation for the preferred dates.

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, recently praised the technology company Anthropic and said that he “gets along well” with the company, after confirming that both parties held a recent “very good” meeting at the White House, reducing tensions over the blockade that the technology company has faced with the Pentagon since the beginning of the year.

The meeting coincides with the launch of Anthropic’s new model, Claude Opus 4.7, a version that, just two months later, substantially improves the software engineering and reasoning capabilities of its predecessor, 4.6, but with deliberate restrictions on its cybersecurity functions, which now seeks to position itself as the firm’s most powerful tool, available to the general public and companies.

A team of Peruvian university students won a competition in Chile organized by the Harvard Health Systems Innovation Lab with the startup called Hem.AI, which allows the diagnosis of anemia, malaria and Chagas disease by converting any smartphone into a portable clinical microscope using AI and computer vision, reported the Catholic University of Santa María de Arequipa.
