Specifically, Microsoft has explained that it has improved Pause Windows Updates feature to ensure that users have more control over when they occur and can more easily organize when to carry them out.

To do this, when pausing an update, users will have a new calendar interfacewhere they can choose a specific day of the month where they prefer to run updates. Thus, the calendar has a period of up to 35 days to pause the update until the indicated date.

As the company has clarified in a statement on its blog, this allows plan updates based on relevant factors already scheduled or busy weeks, with exams, conferences or trips, preventing these experiences from being interrupted.

However, in case the 35-day period is not enough and users need to pause updates for longer, They may extend the end date of the pause as many times as necessary. “You can pause the service again for up to 35 days, with no limit on the number of times you can reset the end date of the pause,” he added.

Therefore, this new option allows you to pause Windows updates completely indefinitelyextending the pause period when the 35 days are up.

In addition to all this, Microsoft has recalled that they already have the option of Skip updates immediately during device setupimplemented earlier this year. This allows you to access the desktop faster and get updates later.

Following this line, the company has also announced that will allow you to restart or turn off the device without having to install updates that are pending, that appear unpredictably.

With this change, the power menu will continue to show the standard Restart and Shutdown options but at the same time it will also show specific options update like Update and reboot or Update and shutdownwhich will continue to be available “when applicable.”

Microsoft has also indicated that it will offer clearer information about updates that are available, clearly indicating whether they apply to the screen, audio, battery, extensionsHDC or “other applicable driver classes”.

In addition to all this, the company has announced that it will begin unify the update experience to reduce the number of reboots that occur every month. That is, it will combine several updates to carry them out at once, instead of separately.

As a result, Windows Insider program participants on Experimental and Beta versions will receive weekly updates, Windows Media users on commercial versions will receive bi-monthly updates, and commercial version users who have not opted in to receive early updates will experience monthly reboots.
