Vietnamese company owns more than 300 core technologies

At the ceremony to receive the title of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces and celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Viettel High Technology Industry Corporation (Viettel High Tech – VHT) held on the morning of April 29, VHT representative said that the company has now become Viettel’s core force in the field of high-tech research and production.

Formerly known as Viettel Research and Development Institute, established 15 years ago, VHT has now developed an ecosystem of more than 120 technology products, masters over 300 core technologies and owns more than 300 intellectual property licenses, including 30 patents that are exclusively protected in the US.

According to the definition in the High Technology Law, core technology is the fundamental technology that determines the formation, development and mastery of high technology, features, quality and added value of high-tech products and strategic technologies.

VHT also said it has successfully produced military equipment for the army that is suitable for fighting and directly improving the country’s defense potential. The product range ranges from reconnaissance, command automation to firepower according to the C5ISR framework architecture, appearing in many combat environments such as on land, in the air, at sea, and in electronic space. They also create a comprehensive military product ecosystem with more than 50 product categories in eight technical fields with “world-equivalent” technology.

This is also a unit that has made a major contribution to mastering the “Make in Vietnam” telecommunications network product ecosystem, with mastery of core components with 24 product lines, covering the entire network layer, with a complete 5G ecosystem, from radio equipment, transmission to the core network. This also puts the Vietnamese corporation in the group of 6 global businesses providing full 5G infrastructure.

VHT representative also said that Viettel’s current core network system mainly uses Viettel High Tech equipment with 60% to 100% market share. They also develop many key national technologies such as 5G chips, augmented reality, IoT ecosystems, AI cameras and initiate research into strategic technologies such as quantum, nuclear, and robotics.

At the event, Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam, Deputy Minister of National Defense, awarded the title of AHLLVTND to Viettel High Tech. According to him, the above results contribute to building and developing a self-reliant and resilient defense industry.

Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam expects that in the next stage, VHT needs to rise to become a global technology enterprise, maintaining Viettel’s core and key role in building high-tech industry and national digital transformation.

Lieutenant General Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group, emphasized that in the coming time, Viettel in general and VHT in particular will devote all their efforts and enter into strategic directions of decisive significance towards the goal of making Viettel a global technology corporation and affirming the nation’s technological autonomy.

They aim to master strategic technologies such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, high-tech weapons… towards comprehensive mastery of the product ecosystem, from design to production. In addition, developing dual-use technology products, closely combining defense with economics, creating products that both serve military tasks and are capable of commercialization in the global market.
