The carrier encourages users to authenticate during the holidays

During the holidays of April 30 and May 1, Viettel and VinaPhone both announced to maintain system-wide operations to support users in standardizing subscription information and biometric authentication according to the provisions of Circular 08 before the communication lock period takes effect. According to the network, a long vacation is the time when users can travel or return home from the city to visit family, so they proactively open transaction points to welcome users to authenticate anywhere.

In addition to the carrier’s stores, Viettel said it mobilizes a network of nearly 50,000 support points nationwide, including partner retail chains such as Mobile World, FPT Shop or CellphoneS.

Similarly, VinaPhone affirmed that the entire system of transaction stores is open throughout the holiday to serve from owner registration, changing SIM to adding facial recognition. Users even abroad can perform authentication via the application, provided that a chip-embedded CCCD is available and a smartphone has NFC connectivity.

Network operators also deploy sales points in each commune, ward and mobile groups directly in villages, hamlets and residential areas to reach people in remote areas.

According to regulations in Circular 08 of the Ministry of Science and Technology, effective from April 15, mobile operators must ensure that mobile subscribers have all four information fields including personal identification number, full name, date of birth, facial photo biometrics, and this data must match the National Population Database of the Ministry of Public Security.

There are four accepted authentication methods, including: online via VNeID; via the network operator’s application; directly at the carrier’s service location; and at locations authorized by the carrier. The network also encourages users to take advantage of digital tools to perform authentication at home through My Viettel and My VNPT applications, or integrate via level 2 VNeID identifier.

According to the process, the VNeID application will send notifications to users in batches, asking to confirm whether or not to use the phone numbers in their names on all networks. In case the user confirms not to use it, the phone number will be one-way locked and the person using that number will be required to update accurate information. With this approach, currently using genuine subscribers, which have been authenticated in previous standardization rounds, will not need to take any further action. Unauthorized subscribers will be locked.

In addition, people who still use registration information such as 9-digit ID card, non-CCCD documents, or register SIM for relatives, are recommended to re-authenticate. To check whether their subscription is subject to standardization or not, people can compose a free text message with the TTTB syntax with CCCD number or ID card sent to the number 1414. Experts note that users should proactively check and do it early during the holidays, avoiding congestion in the days close to the deadline, expected June 15, leading to system overload or long waits at direct support points.
