The Trump Phone is almost reality: deliveries are starting

After almost a year of waiting and numerous postponements, the Trump Mobile T1 is preparing to debut on the market. The company’s CEO, Pat O’Brien, has made the start of shipments official, predicting that all pre-orders placed in the last eleven months will be processed within a few weeks. The statement comes as a direct response to a wave of viral rumors that hypothesized the mass cancellation of orders, news without objective evidence but fueled by the long communicative silence of the manufacturer. O’Brien justified the extended timing by speaking of a deliberate choice to guarantee the quality of the final product, without however going into the technical details that caused the original release date to be postponed.

The imminence of the launch is supported by rather solid documentary evidence. The device recently obtained the necessary certifications from the FCC and PTCRB, essential bureaucratic steps for the marketing of radio equipment in the United States. Further confirmation comes from the inclusion of the T1 in the public list of devices certified for Google Play, an operation that usually precedes the actual distribution of smartphones based on the Android operating system by a few days. The publication of a first promotional video also showed the final design of the terminal, which will be distributed in a package including a transparent case, power supply and a braided USB-C cable with a gold finish.

Despite the confirmation of the shipments, some obscure points remain related to the real extent of the commercial phenomenon. Trump Mobile avoided confirming the numbers circulated online, which spoke of around 600,000 pre-orders, a figure already previously questioned by various sector analyses. The company appears to have adopted a strategy of maximum legal caution, updating the terms of service on its website to protect against any future delays. It remains to be seen whether large-scale distribution will confirm the expectations generated during the long pre-launch phase or whether the T1 will remain a product intended exclusively for a niche of supporters.
