Online anti-Semitism: AJC and CyberWell work together

“Accuracy, transparency and responsibility”

“The fight against digital anti-Semitism – the most dominant source of anti-Semitism today – requires accuracy, transparency and real accountability on the part of technology companies,” Deutsch said. “AJC’s partnership with CyberWell strengthens our tools in this fight.”

The winning combination: political expertise and technological analysis

What makes this partnership unique is the connection between the political experience of the AJC and the “operational capacity” of CyberWell. While the AJC brings insights into the experiences of Jewish communities around the world, CyberWell provides technology analysis at the platform level and expertise in digital policy compliance (Trust and Safety).

The organizations provide a complete picture of how hatred of Jews bypasses the defense mechanisms of social networks. The report notes that these insights reflect how anti-Semitism looks and sounds today – and is becoming more and more subversive as radical elements take advantage of Algorithmic Amplification.

“Catalyst for increased impact”

According to her, the joint work will act as a “catalyst” that will increase the impact of both organizations at a time when cooperation between community organizations, social platforms and technology-based solutions is more urgent than ever.

Next target: Meta and X

The institutionalization of the partnership was built on the basis of work already carried out in the field. In the past six months, the organizations have already submitted targeted reports to companies such as Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and X (formerly Twitter). These reports included specific recommendations and urgent steps to address the hatred experienced by American Jews on each individual platform, while recognizing the unique challenges of each company.

The message that comes out of the March report is clear: the AJC and CyberWell are not just reporting the problem – they are dictating the solution, and they intend to continue issuing additional reports in the coming months to ensure that the technology companies cannot continue to turn a blind eye.
