Dyson finally has a robot vacuum cleaner that lives up to its fame: Dyson Spot+Scrub AI

Dyson It leads the ‘premium’ market for cordless vacuum cleaners with a firm hand, but its attempts to enter the robot vacuum cleaner market have gone largely unnoticed. Now, however, the British brand returns with a much more serious and ambitious proposal: the new Dyson Spot+Scrub AI, that not only vacuums and scrubs, but also uses artificial intelligence to take a leap in cleaning quality. And after trying it, the feeling is that Dyson has finally found its own personality within an increasingly saturated market.

The first thing that catches your attention is precisely that: how it reacts to dirt. There’s something almost hypnotic about watching it. detect a stain and go back over it several times until it is clean (and even more so when it aspires with that characteristic green light that is already a hallmark of the brand). It does not make the typical automatic and carefree movement of other robots, but rather transmits a certain active clean feeling.

We also really liked the scrubbing system. Dyson has opted for a microfiber wet roller instead of classic flat mopsand the difference is noticeable. The robot keeps the roller constantly clean thanks to a Integrated self-cleaning system that uses hot water during operation. This avoids one of the most common problems of many floor-cleaning robots: ending up spreading dirty water throughout the house after a few minutes of use.

On a technical level it is more than enough: the robot measures 37 cm wide, weighs 6.6 kg and has a 18,000 Pa motor, with a battery that allows you to cover surfaces of more than 100 square meters without problem. Of course, there are two aspects that will probably put more than one person back. The first is the price: 1.199 euros They place it directly among the most expensive robots on the market. The second is the size of the base, quite voluminous and difficult to hide (or make something go unnoticed) in small apartments.

But leaving that aside, the feeling after trying it is clear: Dyson did not want to make just another robot vacuum cleaner, but one that really behaves differently by relying on some of the strengths of its cordless vacuum cleaners.
