The Royal Academy of Sciences and Kyndryl bring science closer to everyday life with ‘Amazing’

Kyndryl and the Royal Academy of Sciences have presented ‘Amazing’, an informative publication that seeks to bring the general public closer the way in which Scientific research directly impacts everyday lifethrough the exploration of disciplines such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing.

‘Amazing’ collects the testimonies of 20 Spanish scientists in ten thematic areas, ranging from artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and quantum computing to sustainability, neuroscience and space exploitation.

Through the scientific rigor and the informative narrativethe publication aims to show how science is present in such everyday areas as mobile transactions, medicine, energy or environmental protection.

The publication “not only conveys knowledge, but also inspires, awakens vocations and highlights the transformative role of science“, highlighted the president of the Royal Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences of Spain, Ana María Crespo, who has also valued collaboration with companies.

For Crespo, “companies are not only an engine of innovation, but also natural allies of knowledge transfer, critical point to meet the challenges of our science and technology system.

‘Asombrosa’ is the result of more than a year and a half of joint work between the Academy and Kyndryl, as part of its commitment to innovation, knowledge and the development of technological solutions that respond to the complex challenges of today’s society.

In this regard, the president of Kyndryl Spain and Portugal, David Soto, has pointed out that the work presented this Tuesday is “a commitment between science and business. A commitment that makes it possible for laboratory discoveries become technologies, services, infrastructure, health, energy, that make our lives better and take care of our planet“.

But “it is also a declaration of intent, because at a time when global challenges demand new responses, the union between scientific research and business innovation is more necessary than ever. Science and business build progress for people, for organizations and for society,” he added.

‘Asombrosa’ was presented this Tuesday at the headquarters of the Royal Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences, in Madrid, in an event attended by international leaders such as Ignacio de Ciracpioneer of quantum computing; Veronica Bolonspecialist in sustainable artificial intelligence; Miguel Delibesa reference in biodiversity and conservation; Guillermina López-Benditoneuroscience researcher; and Jesus Martinez Friasplanetary geologist and astrobiologist linked to NASA missions.
